What every page needs
Staying organized requires consistency. The same is true for journaling. And if you want to maintain organization in your journal there are 3 things that are needed for every page.
1. Title
Every page in your journal should have a title, even if the page is continuing from another section in your notebook.
Titles give a quick way to identify what the page is about which can minimize confusion that likely arises when reflecting on your entries weeks, months or even years in the future
2. Page numbers
Sometimes you may want to add references within your notebook and the easy reference is a page number. For example if you keep an index pages number are definitely required. And it only takes a few seconds to right them down whenever you reach a new page.
The best way to mitigate this is get a notebook that already has page numbers printed 😉.
3. Date
For everyday entries it is important to capture the date of your entries. I've done this for years and it really does help to give context to what is written on a page. For me it also helps me identify where I may start and stop a reflection session.
Remember this!
Capture your titles, page numbers and dates in a consistent format. It helps with readability and your future self will thank you!
