8 Practical Tips for Living a Christ-Centered Life

Have you ever wondered how to maintain a Christ-centered life in the midst of a busy world? It's a question many believers ponder. In this blog post, we will explore eight practical tips to help you keep your focus on Christ and live a life that reflects His love and teachings.

1) Keep Your Bible Open on Your Desk

So I must admit that I'm not currently doing this, but I know it's a powerful practice.

Imagine having your Bible open on your desk every single day. Anytime you sit at your desk and see the open pages would serves as a constant visual reminder to read God's Word. I must admit, my Bible is opened all the time on my desk, but having it have a permanent home on my physical desk that frequent daily is definitely beneficial. This approach is definitely more intentional than relying on the Bible app. It serves as a gentle nudge, encouraging you to read, pray, and meditate on God's word daily.

2) Say "If the Lord Wills" Instead of "Tomorrow I Will"

In our plans and aspirations, let's always remember that the future is ultimately in God's hands. Replace the phrase "Tomorrow I will" with "If the Lord wills." This simple shift in language reinforces the truth that our lives are not determined by our own will but by God's divine plan. It humbles us and reminds us of our dependence on Him.

✝️
"Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15 ESV

3) Take Communion By Yourself

While we often partake in communion with our families or church communities, setting aside time to take communion alone can be a transformative experience. Use this dedicated time to reflect on the sacrifice of Christ. Examine yourself, reconcile with others, and confess any unconfessed sins. It's a powerful way to deepen your personal connection with the Lord. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

4) Commit to Daily Scripture Meditation

Meditating on Scripture doesn't have to be dull or one-dimensional. It can take various forms, such as memorizing verses, recording readings and listening to them, or writing about your thoughts and prayers related to a particular passage. By dynamically engaging with God's Word, you dynamically engage with Christ - keeping Him at the forefront of your mind and the center your life.

5) Retreat to Be Alone with God

Follow the example of Jesus, who often retreated to be alone with the Father (Mark 1:35). Find moments of solitude throughout your day to spend time with God. It could be the first 10 minutes of your lunch break or the last 5 minutes of the day before you go to bed. Even during mundane activities like going to the bathroom, take a moment to acknowledge God's presence and offer up prayers. Make it easy to connect with God consistently.

6) Attend Church Services and Bible Studies

Gathering together for corporate worship and fellowship is essential for Christ-centered living. Jesus Himself attended the synagogue regularly to read and listen to the written word of God. And also we've been commanded to come together, support one another, and learn from His teachings. Make connecting with other believers priority in your life.

✝️
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV

7) Fulfill Your Tax Obligations

Living a Christ-centered life means aligning our actions with His teachings. Jesus once said, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's." (Matthew 22:21) This principle reminds us to fulfill our tax obligations. By doing so, we display integrity and respect for the governing authorities, which are established ultimately by God. Let us strive to be good citizens, honoring both earthly responsibilities and our eternal devotion to God.

✝️
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Romans 13: 1-2 ESV

8) Give God What Is His

The whole earth and everything up in it, is the Lord's (Reference Psalm 24:1). And in more ways than one, our lives belong to Him. Period. Let's offer God our complete devotion and use everyday to return to Him, that which belongs to him.

Conclusion

By implementing these practical tips, you can strengthen your relationship with Christ and experience the transformative power of His teachings. May we always remember that in every aspect of our lives, it is all about Him.
